It isn’t that hard to remember the Lions when they were more like the Cubs. I don’t mean a recently born lion, I mean Cubs of the Chicago variety. As in, they didn’t have a shot in hell to win anything. Well, things have changed. And I don’t like it.
Even with more money than God, more influence than the president and unprecedented access to anywhere and anything you could conceivably desire, you just had to go and become sports fans, too.
This off-season, two of the biggest names in baseball will become unrestricted free agents, Prince Fielder and Albert Pujols. Should the Cubs be a player, or focus on the farm?

Over the last 103 years, the Chicago Cubs have enlisted plenty of people as “saviors.” Epstein is just the next man on the list. There is the good, but there is also the bad. Take off those sunglasses, Cub nation.
There’s no question about it, men are competitive. No exceptions. Whether it’s playing sports, at work or in the dating scene, there MUST be an alpha-dog in the group. It’s healthy and perfectly fine among the guys, but never among women. Pull up a chair, boys.
Optimism. It’s a feeling that most Cubs fans have never really felt, at least with their heads.
Since word spread nearly two weeks ago that Theo Epstein, the mastermind behind the 2004 and 2007 World Series champion Red Sox, was leaving Boston and heading to the Cubs as President of Baseball Operations, millions of words have been spoken, written, heard, posted, tweeted, etc. All of them in some form or fashion trumpeted Mr. Epstein as the new “savior” for the Cubs. I’m here today to tell my fellow Cubs fans to cool it. At least for a second.
